Who is my writing hero?

In Australia lives an author with my name. We correspond occasionally and I regard her as my writing hero. She is one busy lady. Her proactive approach to marketing her writing inspires me afresh each time I read the account of her writing journey. Click on the link in my list of favorite blogs to read all about her, her books, her newsletter and numerous writing and marketing articles for writers.

It was with her in mind that I welcomed the opportunity to make myself available as a speaker/facilitator in a program being developed by the Engineering Institute in my country. Actually, I emailed Cheryl for some advice about crafting a professional proposal.

Let me tell you, we writers are an accommodating bunch - helpful, open and always, willing to share information and give advice. Cheryl replied immediately with a copy of a proposal she submitted for a project.

It really helped me to put things in perspective and draft an outline. When I hit the send button the following day to put in my proposal, I did it with confidence because I know that Cheryl is the consummate professional and I could not go wrong following her lead.

Yes, ask me who is my writing hero and I'll tell you it is Cheryl Wright from Australia.

Don't forget to check out her website. You'll be inspired and motivated to be the writer you want to be.

Hi Serena,

Are you Serena Tatti from the Melbourne Romance Writers Guild?

Here in Trinidad in the West Indies, we refer to commending someone as "bigging them up." So we're "bigging up" Cheryl.

It's a good practice to "big up" people who have been good and gracious to us. We should never be "stingy" with our praise.

Thanks for taking the time to drop in with a comment.

Good morning Serena,

Nice to hear from you again. Ain't the Internet the greatest? Connecting so easily with people from all over the world and not just people in general but fellow writers.

I'm glad we connected.

Have a great day.

Cheryl
